Candlelight Vigil at Town Hall

On March 4, the League of Women Voters Amherst organized a community candlelight vigil to demonstrate against President Trump’s removal of government positions and agencies. A large crowd gathered in front of the Town Hall with protesting posters. The event was hosted in partnership with 19 other organizations and is part of a national mobilization for those disagreeing with Trump’s policies and actions.

Asian Alumni Weekend

From March 7 to 9, the Amherst Asian Alumni Network is sponsoring a series of events to celebrate Asian and Asian American culture. Dr. Julie Ajinkya ’03, whose career focuses on creating opportunities for underserved populations, will deliver the keynote address titled “Fighting for Fairness Amidst Attacks on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” on March 8.

AAS Pickleball Tournament

Students of all skill levels are welcome to a pickleball tournament on March 9 at the Memorial Gym, starting at 1 p.m. The event will feature competitive matches and prizes, and no prior pickleball experience is needed.

“Legal Practice and the Responsibility of Individuals” with Liam Murphy

Liam Murphy, Herbert Peterfreund Professor of Law and Professor of Philosophy at New York University, is giving a lecture exploring the question of how to understand the ethical connection between individuals and legal practices that are justified in terms of the social good produced by general compliance. The talk is on March 6 at 5 p.m. in Pruyne Lecture Hall.
