Mammoth Moments in Miniature: Feb. 7 to Feb. 13
Winterfest
The college will celebrate the sixth annual Winter Festival this Sunday, Feb. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees can ice skate, listen to live music from the a cappella group Filosophy, ride a 20-foot-tall inflatable slide, and enjoy ice sculpting demos. Food offerings range from bao buns and poutine to a hot chocolate bar and “donut wall.”
“The Cost of Inheritance” Screening and Panel
Two professors at the college will feature in a panel following a Feb. 15 screening of “The Cost of Inheritance,” a new film about the reparations debate in the U.S. Stefan Bradley — professor of education studies, Black studies, and history — and Jallicia Jolly, professor of American studies and Black studies, will join two of the film’s subjects, Briyna Cuffie and Lotte Lieb Dula, and Michele Miller, chair of Amherst’s African Heritage Reparation Assembly, on the panel. The discussion will cover the film and “the reparative justice work happening in western Massachusetts” more generally. The event will take place at Springfield’s Appleton Auditorium. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
