Emily Dickinson Hosts Annual Poetry Festival
The Emily Dickinson Museum’s annual Tell It Slant Poetry Festival returned to Amherst on Sept. 23. The festival, which will run until Sept. 29, will feature a variety of poetry-related events, including a masterclass with the Worcester Poet Laureate, writing workshops, and poetry readings by Pulitzer Prize-winning authors.
College Sponsors Hike For Hunger Registrations
For this year’s iteration of the Amherst Survival Center’s Hike for Hunger, which helps fund the organization’s efforts to provide meals to local families, the college will sponsor up to 100 student entries. In addition to supporting the organization as it works to feed the Pioneer Valley, students who sign up by Oct. 1 will also receive a free t-shirt. Students can participate by hiking, biking, rollerblading, and more at any time throughout the month of October as a part of the event.
Economics Professor to Hold Admissions Data Workshops
An independent workshop hosted by Professor Jessica Reyes will attempt to provide students with a better understanding of race/ethnicity classifications and recent demographic changes on campus using publicly available data. It will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 3 to 4 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m.
