Website of the Week

Born and raised a Buddhist, I was not exposed to the rich stories of the Bible in my childhood. But if college is the time to experience new ideas and broaden my horizons, now is the time to start learning about western culture’s most important piece of literature. My problem with studying the Bible, however, is its massive length. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, however, each story in the Bible can be retold in a short series of images that is sure to interest and humor both the scholar and novice alike.

All the stories in The Brick Testament are represented through the use of lego figures. To follow the action, one only needs to read the caption at the bottom of the screen or the convenient speech bubbles above the character’s head. For example, in the story of the Garden of Eden, The Brick Testament tells us, “Yahweh God shaped man from the soil of the ground … and blew life into his nostrils.” To make sure there is no room for interpretation, the lego figures are positioned in a way that can only be described as an ancient version of CPR. In case you didn’t know, man becomes a living being soon afterwards.
