With honors
Bergman, a starter on the women’s basketball team, was named the NESCAC Player of the Week for her performance against New England College and Trinity College this weekend. Bergman averages 11.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per game for the Jeffs.
�Heidi Alexander ’03
Alexander, the goalie on the women’s ice hockey team, posted her third career shutout on Friday night as the Jeffs hosted the Wesleyan University Cardinals for the win. Alexander denied 37 shots in the 2-0 Jeff outing and currently holds an .890 save percentage and a 3.95 goals against average on the season.
�Bob Miele ’02
Miele was named the USCHO National Offensive Player of the Week last Wednesday for his role in a pair of Jeff wins over Hamilton and Skidmore Colleges last weekend. Miele is the first Amherst player to take home the national award this season. Miele currently has 10 goals on the season, second on the team.
�Steve Zieja ’03
Zieja, a starter on the men’s basketball team, knocked down 31 points for the Jeffs against Trinity College in Hartford on Saturday. Despite Zieja’s performance, the Jeffs lost to the Bantams by a score of 78-74. Zieja leads the Jeffs in rebounds with 9.4 per game and is third on the team with a .527 field goal percentage.
�Rob Winograd ’02
Winograd took gold for the men’s swim team in three events last Saturday against Hartwick College. Winograd grabbed first place in the 200-yard IM, 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard backstroke races for the Jeffs. The Amherst men beat the Hartwick swimmers by the final score of 156-121.
