but despite some losses, one thing’s very clear:

Shannon Russell is an established star,

a player who can score from near and from far.

Testament to this came in last week’s game,

when she scored her 1000th point in Amherst’s name.

Few in Amherst’s past have scored this much,

only six others have the same shooter’s touch.

Amherst came away with a stellar win,

while a strong Springfield team took it on the chin.

Two days later, Amherst did the same thing,

beating Conn. and continuing the upswing.

Russell had 22 points-not a surprise-
