Associate Professor of English Amelia Worsley will be celebrating the launch of her new book “Singing By Herself: Lonely Poets in the Long Eighteenth Century,” on Feb. 19 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The book highlights lonely female writers who have been previously overlooked in literature and aided in making loneliness attractive to future poets. The launch will take place in the CHI Think Tank in the Lyceum and will be accompanied by a panel discussion.

Annual Winter Festival

On Feb. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m., the college will be holding its annual Winter Festival at Coolidge Cage and Orr Rink. The event will feature ice skating, live music by singer-songwriter Drew Angus, ice sculpting demonstrations, and a variety of free food including a donut wall and a baked potato bar. The Festival is open to all students, staff, faculty, and their families.

Rappaport Lecture in Contemporary Art

The college will be hosting the annual Rappaport Lecture in Contemporary Art featuring artist Michael Rakowitz, on Feb. 24 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Johnson Chapel. Rakowitz is a conceptual artist whose work focuses on creating objects, environments, and events that provoke dialogue about the history of objects through recontextualization. The lecture is free and open for all to attend.
