Mammoth Moments in Miniature provides quick updates on campus happenings. This week’s edition includes a P FKN R lecture on Bad Bunny's voice in Puerto Rican resistance, a lecture by Professor Javier Corrales, and a letter-writing event at the WGC.

P FKN R: How Bad Bunny Became the Global Voice of Puerto Rican Resistance

On March 25, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Pryne Lecture Hall of Fayerweather Hall,  Associate Professor of American Studies at Wellesley College Petra R. Rivera-Rideau will discuss her research on global superstar Bad Bunny and present material from her recently released book, written in collaboration with Venessa Díaz, P FKN R: How Bad Bunny Became the Global Voice of Puerto Rican Resistance (Duke University Press, 2026). The two created a Bad Bunny Syllabus (badbunnysyllabus.com) in 2022 to provide resources that contextualize reggaetón artist Bad Bunny’s success in relation to Puerto Rican politics, reggaetón histories, and Latin crossovers. 

Extreme Populists, Hyper-Machos, and Corporate Raiders: The People Driving U.S. Foreign Policy in the Americas

This virtual event will feature Professor Javier Corrales, who will discuss the key actors, interests, and driving forces shaping U.S. policy toward Venezuela and the Western Hemisphere on March 26 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will be moderated by Leonie Rauls ’18 and will be followed by a Q&A session.

Because of Them: Letters to the Women Who Shaped Us

To celebrate 50 years of coeducation at Amherst, on March 27, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Women’s & Gender Center located in Keefe Campus Center room 211, letter-writing supplies will be provided for attendees to write to someone whose strength, courage, or care helped shape who they are. Stationery, bubble tea, and pastries will be provided.
