Flu Vaccine Clinic

A flu vaccine clinic for students, faculty, and staff will be held this week from Sept. 27 to 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m in Middleton Gym. The clinic will be staffed by Walgreens-trained health professionals. Those who plan to get vaccinated should register in advance and bring a completed Vaccine Administration Record (VAR) — Informed Consent for Vaccination.

The Five College Clothesline Project Display

As part of a national project to promote solidarity with survivors of sexual violence, the Peer Advocates for Sexual Respect are organizing their annual Clothesline Project Display. The project, which is sponsored by Residential Engagement and Wellbeing, includes T-shirts created by survivors and allies, and it will be on display on the First-Year Quad on Oct. 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Book Launch & Signing: “Elemental”

The college will host a conversation between Stephen Porder ’94 and Nancy Pick ’83 about Porder’s new book, “Elemental: How Five Elements Changed the Earth’s Past and Will Shape Our Future.” Pick is the author of “Eye Mind Heart: A View of Amherst College,” among other publications. The conversation, followed by a book signing, will take place at the Beneski Museum of Natural History on Sept. 28 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Human Rights Lawyer to Give Talk about Police and Prison Violence

Derecka Purnell, a human rights lawyer and writer, will give a talk as part of the college’s Freedom Talks series. Purnell uses an abolitionist framework in her work to end police and prison violence. The talk will take place in the Lyceum’s CHI Think Tank on Oct. 3 at 4:30 p.m.
