While most of the student body went home for Thanksgiving, 11 of the college’s athletic teams competed over the break. Highlights include men’s soccer advancing to the Final Four; an impressive cross-country nationals performance; and undefeated starts for several teams.

The Amherst squash teams took on NESCAC competition for the first time this past week. Both the men’s and women’s team handily defeated Hamilton on Saturday, Dec. 3, but were beaten by national powerhouse Trinity on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
With their hopes high after strong seasons that saw the men’s team take home a third-place finish at the CSA Summers Cup, and the women place fifth place at the CSA Kurtz Cup, both of Amherst’s squash teams opened their 2022-23 campaigns this past weekend.
After their strong finishes in the Summers and Kurtz Cups, Callie DeLalio ’24 and Adam Lichtmacher ’23 represented Amherst in the College Squash Association’s National Individual Tournaments.
Following a fourth-place finish at the NESCAC tournament, the women’s squash team finished the year with a strong win over Williams — their first since 1998 — to take fifth place in the 2022 Kurtz Cup.
