Mammoth Moments in Miniature provides quick updates on campus happenings. This week’s edition includes the inaugural Rhonda Cobham-Sander Lecture, the 2025 AI in the Liberal Arts Conference, and an immigration update session.
Annual Rhonda Cobham-Sander Lecture: Hanif Abdurraqib
On Wednesday, April 16, poet and essayist Hanif Abdurraqib will visit campus to give the inaugural Rhonda Cobham-Sander Lecture. Abdurraqib, who often thinks about topics such as culture, memory, and race on a personal and national level, will offer a reading aimed at addressing how a diverse community can be united through personal feelings. The event, at 7 p.m. in Johnson Chapel, is organized by the English Department Student Steering Committee and will be hosted by Professor Rhonda Cobham-Sander of the Departments of English and Black Studies.
2025 Undergraduate Conference Hosted by AI in the Liberal Arts
AI in the Liberal Arts, a college initiative dedicated to developing an interdisciplinary community of participants in discussions about artificial intelligence, will be hosting its undergraduate conference on Saturday, April 19, at the Aliki Perroti & Seth Frank Lyceum. The event, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will include presentations of thesis research and a collection of workshops about AI in a variety of disciplines. The event is an opportunity to learn about research being done in AI both on campus and in surrounding college communities.
Immigration Update Session
On Tuesday, April 22, local immigration attorney Dan Berger will be hosting in-person information sessions in conjunction with the college’s Office of Immigration Services and Human Resources. The sessions will be held in the Cole Assembly Room. A session for international students will be held at 3:30 p.m., while a second session for international faculty and staff will take place at 4:30 p.m.
