Three Minute Thesis Competition Returns to Amherst

The college will be hosting the annual Three Minute Thesis competition, in which students compete for cash prizes by presenting their thesis and its significance in just three minutes, on May 1. Students interested in competing in this year’s competition should submit a proposal to Associate for Public Speaking Susan Daniels by March 8.

AAPI Studies Tea Time

Campus community members are invited to learn more about the potential new program and major in Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies at an informal tea time on March 4 in the CHI. Coffee, tea, and cookies will be provided to attendees.

Trustee to Speak on Adoption, Motherhood

Sociologist and college trustee Gretchen Sisson ’06 will discuss her forthcoming book Relinquished: The Politics of Adoption and the Privilege of American Motherhood, at 4:30 on March 29 in Converse Hall. The discussion of the work, which chronicles “our refusal to care for families at the most basic level,” will be followed by a raffle of the book and a light reception.
