Change to Pass/Fail Policy

The Registrar’s Office announced a change to the college’s pass/fail policy via email on Sept. 29. In order to declare the pass/fail option, students will be required to obtain the signatures of their academic advisor and the instructor for the course on paper. In the past, students have been able to declare the pass/fail option and receive approval from their advisor via Workday. The policy is included in the 2023-2024 Course Catalog.

AAS Fall Elections

The Amherst Association of Students (AAS) hosted Speech Night for candidates running for election from the classes of 2025 and 2027 and from the transfer student cohort on Sept. 27 in Johnson Chapel. Voting for representatives from the classes of 2025 and 2027 was held Sept. 29 to Sept. 30. Three representatives from the class of 2025 and eight representatives from the class of 2027 were elected. Voting for the transfer student representative started on Oct. 3 and will end on Oct. 4.

Budgetary Committee Approves Club Budgets

Last week, members of the AAS Budgetary Committee (BC) met with student representatives from all registered student organizations (RSO) eligible for a club budget under their policies. After meeting with the club leaders, the BC convened on Saturday morning to discuss and edit the club budgets, which were then approved by the AAS during their usual Monday meeting on Sept. 2.
