Mammoth Moments in Miniature provides quick updates on campus happenings. This week’s edition includes the planned removal of microwaves and fridges, free food, and more.
Subsidized Royal Chicken and Kebab
Students can get $10 off their order at local restaurant Royal Chicken and Kebab this Friday, Sept. 20, between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. The program was initiated by AAS Senators Shane Dillon ’26 and Ayres Warren ’26 as an AAS Senate Project, and is the first of its kind.
Tread Shed Zero Waste Award
The Tread Shed won the National Wildlife Federation’s Zero Waste Award for 2024. The campus bike co-op, located in Cooper Garage, has made significant strides in up-cycling abandoned bikes through its bike circulation program. They also help teach students the skills to maintain and repair their own bikes. The Tread Shed will re-open for the fall semester soon.
Microwave and Fridge Planned Removal
The updated Amherst Student Code of Conduct stipulated that the provision of College-issued refrigerators and microwaves will be discontinued following the Spring 2025 semester. While students will be permitted to bring one personal refrigerator to use in their room, personal microwaves will be banned across campus following the spring semester.
