With the NESCAC Championships just one week away on April 27, a portion of the Mammoths competed at the Tufts Sunshine Classic on Saturday, April 20 to tune up for the upcoming championship meet. Men’s Track Crowns Six All-American Titles at DIII Indoor Championship

Last week, seven members of the men’s track and field team competed at the Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Center in Boston. The two-day meet saw the Mammoths compete in the heptathlon, the 800-meter race, the 5,000-meter race and the distance medley relay. Heptathlete Troy Colleran ’22 was the first to compete for the Mammoths. Colleran entered the competition as the 18th seed out of 20, and only one of three first years in the field.

Men’s Track & Field Sets Records at Indoor Meet

The men’s track and field team traveled to MIT on Friday, Feb. 22 and Saturday, Feb. 23 to compete at the New England Division III Track and Field Championships. The first school record of the meet was broken by Troy Colleran ’22 in the heptathlon with a score of 4713 points, improving 317 points upon his previous personal best of the season. This past weekend, the men’s track and field team competed at the Boston University Valentine Invitational and the MIT Gordon Kelley Invitational. Mostly distance runners and a few sprinters competed at BU, while the rest of the team competed at MIT. Entering the Division III Cross Country National Championships, the Mammoths were ranked eighth in the nation after their dominating victory at the New England regional meet. This past weekend, the Amherst men’s cross country team embarked upon its annual trip to the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, at which it placed 14th in the Open Race and 22nd in the Gold Race. Meet organizers limit the number of competitors for each team to 10 runners in the Gold Race, so the remaining 10 Amherst harriers competed in the Open Race.
