With Honors: Amy Armstrong '07 and Ed Sylvester '04

In the NESCAC Tournament final, Armstrong scored the first goal of her Amherst
soccer career in the Jeffs’ decisive 6-0 victory over Bates College this past
Sunday. The first-year’s goal, the sixth of the game, came off a pass from
tri-captain Kay Bradley ’04. Armstrong, who played

and one Jeff player has put on quite a display.
Harmeling has been the team’s offensive spark,
she’s led the way for Amherst’s post-season lark.
The school record for goals in a season she owns,
for this star forward, NESCAC goalies are cones.

Amherst, once ranked sixth in the nation, was stunned by the playoff tie at
home. Amherst shooters comforted Christian Alexander ’06, who had the misfortune
of being the ninth Amherst shooter, the only Jeff whose miss was followed by a

Fluid transition coupled with a fierce offensive attack combined to give the
Firedogs the edge through most of the weekend. Their only loss came in the first
match on Friday at the hands of a relentless Springfield College squad. Amherst
jumped out to a powerful start, taking the first two
Cowboy up!
For Red Sox fans, this victory is a reminder of four years of disappointment
since the last time the Sox made it to the ALCS in 1999. However, the Sox will
not stop here; their mission is a World Series, and no Red Sox fan will be
satisfied with anything

half, the Jeffs scored all 15 points. Fullback Reed Knox ’04 started the scoring
