Mammoth Moments in Miniature provides quick updates on campus happenings. This week’s edition includes line dancing, Health and Wellbeing Education winter clothing workshop, and a poetry reading by 2013 National Student Poet Michaela Coplen.
Line Dancing!
For the last time this semester, there will be line dancing and lessons in the Powerhouse on Thursday from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. All skill levels are welcome, and comfortable shoes, a water bottle, and a fan are suggested.
GRWM: Winter Edition, a Winter Clothing Workshop and Clothing Swap
On Friday, Amherst College Health and Wellbeing Education will host a workshop on how to dress appropriately for winter in Western Massachusetts, as well as a winter clothing shop and raffle, in the Friedmann Room of Keefe Campus Center from 2 to 4 p.m. Bring boots, hats, coats, and more for the clothing swap, and complete the short assessment after to be entered into a raffle to win a $50 gift card to Sam’s Outdoor Outfitters.
American Centuries: A Poetry Reading and Discussion with Michaela Coplen
On Dec. 18, Michaela Coplen will read from “American Centuries,” her manuscript-in-progress consisting of 100 prose poems, each exactly 100 words long. Appointed national student poet by First Lady Michelle Obama and the President’s Council on the Arts and the Humanities in 2013, Coplen will discuss the meaning of a century as a length of time, a military unit, and a numerical symbol of completion/perfection.
