Mammoth Moments in Miniature: March 4 to March 10
Mammoth Moments in Miniature provides quick updates on campus happenings. This week’s edition includes the 2026 Black Arts Matter Festival, the Amherst Got Talent competition, the Amherst Symphony Orchestra concert, and the International Women's Day Celebration.
2026 Black Arts Matter Festival
On Thursday, March 5, the 2026 Black Arts Matter festival will feature a visual arts exhibition reception at the Mead Art Museum from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Saturday, March 7, the festival will also feature a performance showcase at the Powerhouse from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The events are open to students from the 5 College Consortium.
Amherst Got Talent
On Friday, March 6, “Amherst Got Talent” will take place at the Powerhouse from 7:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. The talent show is sponsored by the Association of Amherst Students and the Campus Activities Board. Pizza and cookies will be provided.
Amherst Symphony Orchestra Concert
On Saturday, March 7, the Amherst Symphony Orchestra will present Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6. The concert will feature Amherst student Kevin Hwang ’26 as soloist in Mozart's Fourth Violin Concerto. Admission is free, and ticket purchases are not required.
International Women's Day Celebration
On Monday, March 9, the Center for International Student Engagement and the Women’s and Gender Center will hold an International Women’s Day Celebration at the Powerhouse at 6 p.m. The event will feature a martial arts piece by the UMass Wushu club, along with other activities such as puzzle games and letter writing.
