Thoughts on Theses: Will DeGroot ’23
Will DeGroot ’23 is a mathematics and computer science double major. His thesis works toward answering a “big open question” within the field of abstract algebra called the Galois embedding problem. In collaboration with the Amherst STEM Network.
Fresh Faculty: Rebecca Hewitt
Rebecca “Becky” Hewitt is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies who researches the impacts of climate change on arctic ecosystems, focusing on forests and belowground fungi. Hewitt received a B.A. from Middlebury College in 2005 and a Ph.D. from University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2014.

Spanish Department Centers Community Engagement
