Mammoth Moments in Miniature: April 29 to May 6
Mammoth Moments in Miniature provides quick updates on campus happenings. This week’s edition includes Denim Day, a talk on religion today, and a printmaking event in Keefe.
Denim Day
On Wednesday, in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Health & Wellbeing Education invites students and community members to participate in their all-day event, Denim Day. Wear your denim to show support for survivors, bring awareness to victim blaming, and challenge myths surrounding sexual violence. They will be tabling outside of Valentine Dining Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer questions and speak about engagement with this global campaign.
What Is Religion Now? And Why Does It Still Matter?
On Thursday, in Cole Assembly Room of Converse Hall from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sam K. Viersen Presidential Professor of Sociology at the University of Oklahoma Samuel L. Perry will discuss the issue of modern religion. He will argue that religion still matters, and will explain how a more enlightened, evidence-based approach to "religion" can help shed light on the dramatic and disturbing transformations we see taking place in our society and around the world.
Feeling Blue Without You: Printmaking In Memory of Our Time in Keefe
On Friday, join the Women's and Gender Center in Keefe 211 for a special printmaking event, honoring nearly a decade of memories in Keefe before they relocate to the New Student Center next semester. Attendees will be able to create custom cyanotype prints and take a piece of Keefe with them as they move into their next chapter! We encourage you to bring your own materials to print on. Supplies will be provided, and all students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend.
