Are We Still a Constitutional Democracy?
Stephen Vladeck ’01, a nationally recognized expert on the federal courts, constitutional law, national security law, military justice, and a member of the Amherst College Board of Trustees, will participate in a moderated discussion with Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought Professor Lawrence Douglas on “Are We Still a Constitutional Democracy?” The event is on Thursday at 5 p.m. in the CHI Think Tank.
Downtown Block Party
On Thursday, the Town of Amherst will hold its 13th edition of the annual block party from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is free and features live music, street performances, aerialists and acrobatics, food, and a showcase of local businesses, museums, and organizations.
Free Clothing Extravaganza!
On Thursday, the Office of Sustainability is hosting its annual free clothing extravaganza at Orr Ice Rink. The extravaganza will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, with over 10,000 pieces of clothing. Students are encouraged to take this opportunity to refresh their wardrobes with new winter attire, jeans, sweaters, athletic wear, formal wear, shoes, and winter clothes.
Live Music, Activities, and a Drone Show!
The grand opening of Ford Student Center and Betty’s Kitchen will be held on Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will feature live music, activities, giveaways, and a drone show over Hitchcock Soccer Fields. This event is sponsored by the Office of the President, Student Affairs, Dining Services, and the Office of Advancement.
